About Us

 Who We Are

Johnson County Humane Society (JCHS) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization which was founded in 1986. Although we are a non-profit corporation, in practicality, we are just a handful of dedicated animal-loving volunteers.  We all have jobs, families and busy lives, but we’re all committed to saving animals.  Often we stay up nights bottle feeding kittens, or nursing sick or injured animals or making trips to the emergency vet.

Since we operate out of our own homes, our space is very limited and we can only take in animals when we have room in our foster homes. Our foster animals are adopted through Petfinder, Facebook, Adopt a Pet, and PetSmart Charities, and Petco just to mention a few.

What We Do
JCHS is dedicated to the welfare of animals. We do not have a shelter, but we foster our animals directly in our safe, caring homes. We rescue animals from area shelters, often nursing many of them back to health, then have them spayed/neutered, vaccinated & wormed before putting them up for adoption. We help our community by investigating cruelty and abuse cases and when funds are available we help people out in the county with assistance in a variety of ways such as helping the elderly feed their animals.

Why We Exist
We work with area shelters to save animals from being euthanized. Many animals are euthanized because their short window of time to be adopted has run out, or because they are too young to be placed for adoption or they’re sick and need to be in foster care until they are old enough and/or healthy enough to be adopted.  We strive to fill some of the gap for those animals that run out of time or aren’t given enough time.

How We Exist
We are a no kill rescue group with volunteer foster homes in Johnson, Tarrant, and Parker Counties. We are not controlled by or funded by any statewide, national or countywide organization. Donations made to county or national welfare groups do not benefit our local pets. We receive no funding from any of the cities in Johnson County, Tarrant County, Parker County, or the State of Texas. Our funding comes from private sources, such as:
Donations
Memorials
Bequests
Special Events and Fundraisers
Adoption Fees
